You could be mistaken for thinking that the High Rockies Trail in Kananaskis is my new favourite, go-to trail. Once again, I found myself out there, this time covering the 12km section from the Three Sisters Dam (at the northern end of the Spray Lakes Reservoir) to just beyond the “Spray Connector”.

The last time I ran this section, or at least part of it, it was covered in snow. This time around, the snow was gone and the trail was in truly spectacular shape: winding single track with a great combination of rocks, roots and dirt; short and sharp ups and downs; and spectacular views along the shores of the Spray Lakes Reservoir and, after crossing the highway at the Driftwood Day Use Area, at various points through the trees.

On Strava it looked like this:

To my eyes, it looked like this:

To my mind it was 2 hours and 58 minutes of pure bliss.
