Some excellent news! I had a bone scan on Thursday to more accurately assess the size and location of the stress factor as it wasn’t all that clear from the x-ray.
Well, to everyone’s surprise – and my immense relief – the bone scan revealed that there is no stress fracture! This is huge news.
It doesn’t alter the fact that there’s some source of discomfort in my left foot that we need to get to the bottom of. The doctor wants me to stick to the aqua jogging for a couple more weeks to let things settle down.
But the prospects for an early return to running and a fuller racing calendar are looking pretty good. And just as well. Aqua jogging is not, I found, the most thrilling experience. The views aren’t as good. Though I didn’t need to worry about bears. On which, more soon.
Until then, happy trails.
PS – In case you were concerned, the boot’s not in the trash. Given the injury risks inherent in trail running, plus the fact that it costs over a hundred bucks, it’s probably a good idea to hang onto it.
Good news. Also thanks for the chuckle from your humorous writing. Love , Aunt Jo
